The Men's Ministry's Four-Year Strategic Plan is a comprehensive
blueprint aimed at fostering holistic growth among its members. The
plan's emphasis on physical health underscores the belief that a sound
body is essential for fulfilling one's life, career, and spiritual
duties. By instituting annual sporting events and a soccer gala, the
ministry seeks to cultivate a spirit of camaraderie and unearth latent
talents within the congregation.
These events serve a dual
purpose: they not only promote physical fitness and well-being but also
act as a platform for evangelism, reaching out to both church members
and the wider community.
The initiative aligns with the broader
vision of the church, which necessitates active and healthy participants
to carry out its mission effectively. The inclusion of various
ministries at the district and area levels in these events ensures a
wide-reaching impact, fostering unity and a sense of purpose among the
young men involved. The activities are designed to be more than just a
competition; they are a celebration of the gifts bestowed by God and an
opportunity to engage in PEMEM activities fully.
The strategic
plan, therefore, is not just a document but a living, breathing
framework that guides the ministry's actions and aspirations. It is a
testament to the ministry's dedication to nurturing all aspects of its
members' lives, ensuring that they are equipped and ready to meet the
challenges of their personal journeys and the collective endeavor of the
church's vision. In this way, the Men's Ministry's approach exemplifies
a comprehensive model of church leadership, one that values the
interconnection between physical vitality and spiritual vigor.
It
was in the regard that the Annual PEMEM Sports festival, a
much-anticipated event in the Obuasi area, concluded with a thrilling
display of sportsmanship and camaraderie. The football tournament, a
highlight of the competition, saw Kyekyewere District clinch the title
in a nail-biting penalty shootout, edging out Akaporiso with a 5-4
victory. The match, which ended in a goalless draw, showcased the
defensive prowess and resilience of both teams. Prophet David Kankam
Beditor, the esteemed Area Head, presided over the event as match
commissioner, emphasizing the importance of unity and healthy living
through sports.
The competition was not just a test of athletic
skill but also a celebration of community spirit. Twelveteams from
various districts came together, demonstrating their passion and
dedication to the sport. The event was more than a contest; it was a
platform for fostering fellowship among the men's groups across the
districts. The presence of Prophet Beditor, Pastor BS Mensh and the area
pastorate added a layer of significance to the occasion, reinforcing
the community's values and the spirit of togetherness.
In
addition to football, the competition featured other sports, including
draught and sack race, adding variety and excitement to the event. The
sack race saw Pentecost International Worship Center secure the third
position, with Kunka District following closely in second place.
However, it was Kyekyewere District that once again stood out, topping
the event with a series of impressive performances.
The draught
competition was equally competitive, with Tweapease District emerging
victorious against the formidable opponents from Kwabrafoso and Kunka
Districts, who claimed the second and third spots, respectively. The
success of these events is a testament to the skill and enthusiasm of
all participants.
The award ceremony was a moment of pride and
joy for the winners. Trophies were awarded to the top three football
teams, and individual accolades were given to the Best Goalkeeper, Best
Player, and Goal King, celebrating their exceptional contributions to
the game. These awards not only recognized the winners' achievements but
also inspired all participants to strive for excellence.
The
2024 PEMEM Sports competition will be remembered for its competitive
spirit, the display of exceptional talent, and the unifying power of
sports within the community. It stands as a beacon of hope and
inspiration, encouraging healthy competition and fostering a sense of
belonging among the youth and adults alike. As the church looks forward
to the next edition, the memories of this year's event will undoubtedly
fuel the passion for sports and community engagement for years to come.
Prophet
Beditor's role in presenting awards is not merely ceremonial but serves
as a reinforcement of the ministry's commitment to the physical and
spiritual development of its members. His message to the awardees to
utilize their talents for the greater good reflects a core tenet of the
ministry's philosophy: that individual achievements should contribute to
the collective mission of soul-winning and nation-building for Christ.
