Ghana Will Not Develop Until We Make Efforts To End Bribery And Corruption – Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie

Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie

The National Prayer Director of Aglow International, Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie, has called on Ghanaians to eradicate corruption, bribery, and other societal vices to enable national development.

Speaking in a recent interview on GTV, she stated that true progress cannot be achieved unless Ghanaians consciously commit to upholding moral virtues and eliminating destructive practices.

“Sin is sin. We try as much as possible to talk about it,” she began, referencing 2 Chronicles 7:14. “It says, ‘If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, seek my face and pray, and turn away from their wicked ways, then I, the Lord, will heal the land.’”

She stressed that certain vices, including corruption, bribery, embezzlement, and illegal mining (galamsey), hinder Ghana’s development. “If the land will progress, if the land will have development, then we have to do away with certain vices so that at least we can be able to push the roots of development and democracy forward,” she stated.

Call for change

Madam Afenyi-Dadzie urged Ghanaians to adopt a conscious effort to uphold moral and spiritual principles, emphasising that prayer alone cannot solve the nation’s challenges without a corresponding change in behaviour.

“Until we make it conscious, that we as Ghanaians will uphold the virtues and the precepts of the word of God, this nation will not go forward. That is why we keep on stressing,” she said. “Now listen, all of us must have a change of attitude. And if we don’t do that and we pray, how can God listen?”

Past efforts and continued advocacy

She highlighted that Aglow International has consistently advocated for national transformation through various programmes and themes aimed at addressing societal ills.

“The whole of last year, we did various programmes with various themes that highlighted some of the things that I’m talking about,” Afenyi-Dadzie noted.
