‘When we get power, we will show them where power lies’ – Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor

South Dayi MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor warns of political retribution, criticising the NPP’s alleged manipulation after the EC.

South Dayi Member of Parliament (MP), Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor, has launched a scathing criticism against the Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, following the Electoral Commission’s (EC) declaration of seven out of nine contested parliamentary seats in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking to TV3 on Saturday, December 21, during the recollation process at the EC’s Greater Accra regional office, Mr Dafeamekpor accused the NPP of political manoeuvring and manipulating the outcomes to secure a majority in Parliament.

“When a matter is in court, don’t you respect the court process? Today, Afenyo is granting a press conference, giving praises to an outcome of exercises that are still before the Supreme Court. And he is telling me to take it in good faith and that we are brothers. We are not brothers, Afenyo, we are not!” the visibly upset MP declared.

He further accused the NPP of hypocrisy, alleging that the party employs dubious tactics to secure electoral victories. “Some of these lies, Afenyo should stop this conduct. He should stop fabricating stories to spice up his press conferences,” he charged.

Mr Dafeamekpor vowed political retribution, promising a reckoning if the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) assumes power. “They may be in government, but they are no longer in power. The power has left them and is now transitioning to us. When we get the power, we will show them where power lies!”

The EC declared the NPP winners in seven constituencies, including Nsawam Adoagyiri, Obuasi East, Tema Central, Ahafo Ano North, Okaikwei Central, Ahafo Ano South West, and Techiman South, after a court-ordered recollation of results.

Mr Dafeamekpor’s remarks were in reaction to a press conference by Afenyo-Markin, who celebrated the NPP’s victories and called on the NDC to accept the outcomes in good faith.
